Cefaly is an external neurostimulation device for prevention and treatment of migraine, a type of headache that affects 10 to 15% of the Western population, particularly women; thus becoming highly disabling.

This device is an innovative alternative for the prevention and treatment of migraine; acting through electrical stimulation of trigeminal nerve in the V1 upper branch . The electrode from the device generates controlled micro-impulses that stimulate this nerve, which will allow you to change the migraine threshold, thereby reducing the episodes’ frequency.

This device can be used in two ways:

• During the crisis

Since the 20 min session will be insufficient, it is recommended to perform a session of at least 40 minutes; up to about 120 minutes in Program 1. The more frequently you use Cefaly, the more noticeable the effect on crises. If you feel that Program 1 is too intense, start by using Program 3. You will gradually be able to start using the 1st one.

• Crisis prevention

In this case it is advisable to use Program 2, which can be done once or twice a day. If you can not tolerate program 2 you can switch to Program 3, which will be more comfortable.

The device begins by generating a gradual current, which may not be noticeable at first . As the current increases, you may feel a tingling sensation, which will tend to be more pronounced on one side; and that will be reduced throughout the session.

Cefaly usage can cause a sedative effect and therefore it should be avoided while driving, or during any other activities that require focus. Due to the presence of adhesive substances, this device is notrecommended in case of allergy to acrylates.
